Additionally, inadequate water access at schools hampers proper sanitation and hygiene, particularly affecting girls during menstruation, leading to absenteeism or even dropping out altogether. As a result, their educational opportunities and future prospects are severely limited.
High Prevalence of Waterborne Diseases: Kenya experiences frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, and dysentery. These diseases are primarily caused by contaminated water sources and inadequate sanitation facilities (Water.org) (UNICEF). Providing clean water directly reduces the incidence of these illnesses, improving overall community health and reducing healthcare costs.
